Before this story broke, the most intriguing dilemma facing the Mets was where to play Carlos Beltran. Now, the Wilpons are faced with the prospect of selling a minority stake in their team to address the uncertainty that lies ahead. What would being a minority owner entail? He or she would receive a 20-25 percent stake in the Mets with the exclusion of the SNY cable network.
I have read that many are interested in acquiring a piece of the Mets but will probably never be able to control the team as much as the Wilpons or their bother-in-law, Saul Katz, does.
Either way, if they do or if they don’t sell a portion of their team it will affect the Mets ballclub financially.
