Mets Find Disqualified As a Word They Can Work With

Mets manager Jerry Manuel stated that he was obviously disappointed, discouraged, and frustrated upon hearing the news that his closer would no longer be available for the remainder of the season. Francisco Rodriguez underwent season-ending surgery on his right thumb on Tuesday. His injury, unfortunately, stemmed from a previous altercation that led to his arrest and a two-day stint on the Mets restricted list.

The latest news surrounding the fiery closer is that the Mets front office has removed the guarantee from his once-guaranteed contract and deemed him disqualified for the rest of the 2010 season. Meaning, they will hold back the remaining salary owed to him. The player’s association has yet to proceed with their side of the story. However, it is more than likely that K-Rod and his agent will be filing a grievance sometime soon. Stay tuned.
